WHAT INSPIRED DAD GANG CO.

THE STORY

If you follow us on Twitter or IG you might see that we often post photos of dads wearing our hats with the quote 'more than a hat'.

Some might react and think, "No you just make hats, relax." But that couldn't be further from the truth.

You see Dad Gang Co. started because we saw a massive gap in how fathers were portrayed on social media. All you would see is dad bod jokes, mowing the lawn, ugly sneakers, grilling, and really just a dumbed down version of what being a dad means.

Then you see what actually happens in real life and realize being a dad can be funny at times, but it's not the majority of your experience.

Our company is made up of three dads that were always in a text thread talking about all aspects of being a dad. Not just the funny stuff.

The days where you have no idea how you're going to pay the bills, your boss is breathing down your neck, you're dealing with issues at home, kids are up all night so you're not getting any sleep, etc. The parts of fatherhood nobody cares to cover on social media.

The other thing we noticed is that all of the apparel out there was low quality, random jokes on hats or t-shirts, or a mug that said "#1 dad".

At some point we said enough is enough and started working on making the highest quality hats we could find. Something you'd want to wear on a daily basis, not just when Father's Day rolls around.

The name Dad Gang derives from the community behind the brand. If you see a dad out with a DG hat, you know he's just like you and going through all the similar things you may be dealing with. Hence the IYKYK on the side of the hat.

Dad Gang Co. started a little over two years ago out of a tiny garage with the hope that we could make some great hats for friends and family. Then it grew into something so much more beyond our imaginations.

So to anyone that has supported Dad Gang Co. from the start, thank you over and over again. We are nothing without your support and the community doesn't grow without it.

That's all for today! Happy Father Friday and have a great weekend!
